BUY a Nicholson 32

I bought Fire Dragon in 2018 and is in fairly good condition for age. Hull recently stripped to base and 2 coats of epoxy primer applied then 2 coats of epoxy copper coats applied below waterline. Topside finishing coat to be completed by new owner. External wood work in good condition, Standing rigging renewed mid 2018. Original Watermota  Sea Panther Mk2 30hp engine, slight rear oil seal leak when running otherwise in good condition. Several sails most in good condition. Running rigging is in fair condition. Electronics Furuno Radar, VHF radio, GPS etc. Only one battery and temporary external solar panel for charging installed.

An exceptionally well-kept example of this renowned ocean-going cruiser, Mariella has been in the same ownership for 46 years.  She has thoroughly explored the Clyde and Hebridean anchorages throughout this family’s ownership.  Prior to that, she completed the OSTAR Transatlantic single-handed race in 1976, completing the crossing in 35 days (as “Freemerle”).  She is currently afloat at Kip marina ready for her next adventures.  Among her recent upgrades are:
– 2024: New standing rigging fitted by Fairlie Riggers
– 2021: New mainsail and furling jib (Bruce Banks Sails)
– 2020: Replacement Bukh 24 engine.

Laid up at home address in cradle.  Part internal restoration before ill-health prevented further work.   Hull and deck in fair condition.  New mast kit included together with hydrovane self steering.  Needs completion of refit to suit new owner and new engine and gearbox unless wish to recondition the existing Watermota and ‘J’ type gearbox.

Presently on hard standing at the boat yard in Galway, has been out the water now sinse April 2024 and ready for some TLC to be brought back to her former glory.

Priced accordingly as lots of work yet to be done, mainly:

-Rudder may need to be rebuilt as crack in the underside created an exposed cavity that let water into the inner fibreglass.
-Minor osmosis in a couple of patches will likely need a patch before a new coat of paint and antifoul.
-Windless is siezed and may need replacing.
